Sports

As of January 1, 2005 there were 48 people working in this sector in the region. Of them two – in Chechersk state vocational school #186, 25 – in schools, 9 – in children’s sport school, 12 – sport instructors in various organizations and companies of the region.

There is a children’s sport school in the region with four types of sports being trained: soccer, basketball, judo and free-style wrestling. All in all there are 21 education groups with 245 students.

Some 2,967 citizens of the region have been involved in sports activities in 2004.

Sport Achievements of the Region

In 2005 alumnus of Chechersk sport school Tatyana Stepchenko became the champion of Belarus in judo among juniors, Sergei Pernikov – a master of sports in freestyle wrestling, a member of the national team, a winner and prize-winner of the republican and international competitions, Oleg Indyukov – a master of nsports in unarmed self-defense and judo, Igor Sotnikov – a master of sports in freestyle wrestling, many-time winner of Belarusian competitions among juniors, a member of the national team. Chechersk was included in the tourist route “Golden Ring of Gomel oblast”.
