velcom informs about temporary network failure in Gomel Oblast
MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – A temporary failure in the network of the mobile services provider velcom was reported in Gomel Oblast on 30 November, BelTA learnt from velcom.
It took the company more than an hour to diagnose and resolve the problem that emerged on the transport network. The issue has been removed by now; the network is operating in the regular mode.
“Mobile carrier velcom apologizes for any inconveniences,” the company said.
The company was established in 1998 as a Belarus-Cyprus joint venture OOO Mobile Digital Communications. On 22 August 2007 the company changed its legal name into “Foreign Private Unitary Enterprise “Mobile Digital Communications” after the Cyprus company SB Telecom Ltd. purchased the state-owned shares in the provider. In October 2007 the Telekom Austria Group announced the purchase of 70% of the shares of
nSB Telecom Ltd. for about ?730 million. The assets were acquired by Mobilkom Austria, the mobile communication division of Telecom Austria. On 15 May 2008 the provider changed its name into “velcom”. In October 2010 the Telekom Austria Group bought out the remaining 30% shares in the provider.
